250 Watt SB (Self Ballasted) MV: 2.1 AMPS

MOST POPULAR!! This light is perfect for almost any water conditions, it is ideal for shallow intercoastal waterways and/or clear water conditions.

Pros: A true "plug-n-play" underwater dock lighting system. No large ballast box required to be installed. The light bulb does get really hot to burn off some of the marine growth. Low maintenance cleaning (per qtr. recommended).. Southern Boating Magazine calls it "the easiest piece of marine equipment you'll ever install." The instructions: Throw it in the water in the desired area; plug it in. Click Here to live link

Cons: Only 6750 Lumens. (These bulbs are made per our specification in China, beware of other underwater "fishing lights" that claim they use the same bulb). This light excellent in less than 6 feet of water but is not bright enough for deeper murky waters.

175 Watt MV: 2.5 AMPS

Most companies use this light in the market place. Unfortunately they do not protect the light when it is in the water. We call those exposed bulb systems. This light is pretty much great for 2ft-10ft of murky intercoastal waterways or lakes.

Pros: Very popular light bulb so it's very easy to find at any store. This light is perfect for any intercoastal waterway or lake. This light produces over 9,000 lumens.

Cons: Unfortunately, this light requires external ballast, as do most underwater dock lighting systems. The external ballast is housed in a 6x6 J-Box that is attached to the piling. This light is not recommended for very murky waters deeper than 12 feet.

175 Watt Metal Halide: 3.2 AMPS

If you are looking to light up your dock so brightly it can be seen from space-then this is the light for you!. The 175 watt Metal Halide bulb is one of the brightest bulbs on the market. Actually, anything over this lumen output is past the optimum range and is simply overkill. Brighter lights tend to have pool light appearance and big impact on your power bill. Don't be fooled into something brighter because in this case brighter is not better. Perfect for deep waters Murky or Clear.

Pros: You really don't want any light brighter than this one. This like works great for deeper waters.

Cons: Most expensive all around. This light requires external ballast (6x6 J-box) and plug for each light.
